It never seems to fail, you just spent 10 minutes scrubbing your windshield and not five minutes down the road SPLAT!, you are back to square one. Oh well, on to the next gas station for another round of de-bugging. It doesn’t have to be this way though, there are products available to help remove bugs, you just have to stop by your local NAPA AUTO PARTS Store to get them. We have selected three products that you should consider adding to your road trip (and really year-round) prep process.
Rain‑X® Water Repellent – Rain‑X® works, it is probably the single best thing you can do to your windshield. Not only does it force water to simply roll off your glass (which reduces the need to use your wipers), it also makes the surface of the glass less likely to grab debris. That means it is easier to clean. Rain‑X® is a “wipe-on, let dry, reapply, let dry, then buff off”. The process takes just a few minutes, and should be applied to dry glass. There are several versions of Rain‑X®, including the squeeze bottle, spray bottle, and handy wipes. One treatment lasts a long time, so just the occasional reapplication is necessary.
Prestone Bugwash – Instead of regular old wiper fluid, try adding Prestone BugWash to your vehicle’s washer reservoir. This product is chemically engineered to power through all matter of residue and potential road splatter, including dirt, mud, and of course bug guts. Additionally, there is a bug blocker built in to treat your glass, forming a barrier of protection from sticky stuff. And your windshield gets treated every time you hit the washer button. It doesn’t get much easier than that.
Third and Final Round:
Sea Foam Bugs-B-Gone – If you just drove through a swarm of bugs, your wipers may not get the job done. Pull out the Sea Foam Bugs-B-Gone, and the chemicals go to work, breaking down the acids in the insects and within 30-45 seconds the evidence easily wipes off your car’s windshield so you can get back on the road. Bugs-B-Gone is great for removing soot and road grime from your car as well without any damaging after effects.
Keep your vision clear and your conscience clean with these bug-removing products so you can sit back and enjoy your road trip. Clear roads are ahead.
